The Art
“I believe a painting becomes truly meaningful when it finds the right space and the right person.”

My work explores colour, texture, movement and emotion, often bringing together elements of abstraction and reality.
Whether created intuitively or commissioned for a particular space, every artwork is an opportunity to translate an idea, an atmosphere or a feeling onto canvas.
How the work is made
The handling changes with the subject. These are the approaches that recur across the collection — each one shown in the paintings where it is clearest.
-
Palette knife and impasto
Paint laid on thickly enough to catch the light, so the surface reads as relief before it reads as image.
-
Flat colour and line
Form built from hard-edged planes of colour, where the drawing underneath carries the likeness.
-
Poured and fluid acrylic
Colour allowed to move and marble on the canvas, set against passages painted in careful greyscale.
-
Gold leaf and metallic
Leaf applied to the canvas so the work changes entirely with the light in the room.
-
Light and fine detail
Patient, closely observed work — water, foliage and night skies built up in thin layers.
Four directions in the work
Every painting in the collection sits in one of these.
- Portraits & FiguresPortraits and figures by Sreeparna Poddar, from fast palette-knife work to graphic, flat-colour faces. Some are built from thick, broken colour and read as a likeness only once you step back; others are drawn in a single continuous line with one feature finished in full. Each is an original, and any of them can be adapted in size, palette or framing for your own wall.7 works
- Landscapes & SeascapesLandscapes and seascapes by Sreeparna Poddar — coastlines, harbours, lakes, open fields and mountain light. The water pieces range from a still lake at midday to moonlight on a beach and a harbour going down in flame; the land pieces run from spring fields to a dark meadow under a band of gold leaf. All are originals, and a view can be painted to the proportions of a particular wall.12 works
- Florals & Still LifeFlorals and still life by Sreeparna Poddar, from smooth close-up blending to flowers built up so thickly they stand off the canvas. A single rose fills one canvas; another is a whole hillside of them, and a third is cut citrus painted wet and close. Every piece is an original, and a bloom, a palette or a size can be changed for a commission.6 works
- ContemporaryContemporary paintings by Sreeparna Poddar in flat colour, strong line and confident scale — mythology reworked in geometry, animals among leaves, gold-leaf botanicals in relief, and pure blocks of colour. This is where the boldest and largest work sits, made for rooms that can carry it. Each is an original, and scale, palette and finish are all open to discussion for a commission.10 works
Some spaces call for something that doesn’t yet exist.
Tell Sreeparna about the wall, the room and the feeling it should hold. The painting that belongs there can begin with a single message.
